A quick, safe way to report suspicious emails and help protect state systems.
The orange phish hook is one of the simplest tools you can use to keep your inbox, and the entire state, safe. If something doesn’t look quite right, clicking the hook removes the message from your inbox, sends a copy to Security through PhishER, and returns clean emails back to you automatically.

If an email looks or feels suspicious, open it and click the orange Phish Alert Button on the right-side navigation bar. A confirmation prompt may appear before it sends.
Immediate Protection on Your End
Once you confirm:
The email moves to your Deleted folder
This prevents accidental clicks. The email is not permanently deleted, and you can restore it yourself anytime.
You receive a quick confirmation
If the email was part of a KnowBe4 training test, you’ll see a message acknowledging your report.

Your report goes directly into PhishER, which is the system our Security team uses to review suspicious emails. Think of PhishER as the secure place where all reported messages go so the team can examine them quickly and safely.
PhishER gives Security everything they need:
A copy of the email
The technical details behind it
Information that helps determine whether the message is harmful or safe
Using this, the team classifies the email as:
Threat - confirmed malicious
Spam - unwanted but not dangerous
Clean - legitimate email reported by mistake

Clean or spam emails are automatically returned to you
PhishER sends a safe copy back to your inbox so you still have access.
Security can restore it if you can’t find it
If you don’t see it come back, Security can locate the report in PhishER and resend it manually.
